DROCOURT, PARIS, NO. 9106. A SUPERB GIANT GORGE CASED STRIKE REPEAT AND ALARM CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH GILDED ENGRAVED MASK
WITH ORIGINAL NUMBERED BOX AND KEY. CIRCA 1880.

A large and imposing giant French carriage clock. The gorge case is numbered 9106 on the base and has five deeply bevelled glass panels and a strike repeat button on the top front. It has a well engraved and gilded mask round the main dial and the smaller alarm dial. The main dial has Roman numerals with Arabic outside repeat numerals and the alarm dial has Arabic numerals.

The eight day gong striking movement numbered 9106 has the Drocourt stamp on the backplate and strikes and repeats the hours on a blued steel gong. It has an extremely large silvered lever escapement with a large bi-metallic balance with compensation screws and a double cocquet. The movement and case are of the highest quality.

The large brown leather travelling case is numbered on the front of the lid and has its original numbered key inside. It is signed for the retailer ‘Mr Streeter, Diamond Merchant and Goldsmith to the Royal Family, 18 New Bond Street.’
