Joseph Soldano was a noted maker of fine carriage clocks, many of which had high quality escapements and, therefore, were provided with seconds hands. He received medals and high praise at the Paris Exhibition in 1855 and 1878.  This particular example is slightly larger than normal which gives it an important look.
