A FULLY ENGRAVED PORCELAIN PANELLED STRIKE/REPEAT FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK. CIRCA 1870.

A very attractive gorge cased engraved carriage clock. The gorge case with fine overall engraving has five extremely attractive porcelain panels. The dial panel has white dials for the main clock and for the alarm, the main dial having a picture of a recumbent cherub in its centre. It has a bright blue and gold painted mask set with enamel jewels, the top panel again with enamel jewels shows musical instruments with a blue and gilded border. The two side panels show courting couples walking in a stylised landscape, again with enamel jewels and blue and gold borders, and the rear panel shows a bird sitting astride a bird cage with a hat in the foreground.

The eight day bell striking movement has a repeat button and an alarm train.
