The case standing on bracket feet has brass binding to the bottom and brass edging to all doors, side windows and brass canted corners to the case. There is further brass stringing on the bell top. At the side of the arched front and rear doors there are pierced and chased brass sound frets with silk backing. The clock has glass side panels to view the movement. The 5" dial has nicely cast gilded spandrels and a strike/silent dial in the arch with a well matted centre. The silvered chapter ring is signed for the maker, ‘Robert Henderson, London,’ with Roman hour numerals and Arabic outer numerals. It again has a nicely matted centre with a date aperture above six o’clock. The hands, which are of blued steel are well fretted. The eight day gut fusee movement has five nicely knopped pillars and its original verge escapement. It strikes the hours on a bell mounted on top of the movement and has a well engraved backplate with a signature cartouche signed for the maker, ‘Robert Henderson, St Martins Court, London.’ It has trip repeat activated via a cord on the side.
