DROCOURT. A GRANDE SONNERIE GORGE CASED CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH FULL CALENDAR WORK AND ALARM IN ITS ORIGINAL TRAVELLING CASE. CIRCA 1870.

An attractive gorge cased grande sonnerie carriage clock. The case of gilded brass with bevelled glasses to the front, back, sides and top has a repeat lever mounted in the top and the usual strike selection lever in the base. The case and the movement are numbered 28885.

The white enamel dial has Roman numerals with Arabic repeat numerals on the outside and blued steel Breguet style hands. At the base of the panel are three subsidiary dials for day, alarm and date.

The eight day grande sonnerie movement strikes the hours and quarters on two gongs mounted on the backplate and has the Drocourt stamp on the backplate.

The original travelling case in black tooled leather has the By Appointment Royal Crest of Herbert Blockley, Successors to Lund & Blockley on the lid lining.
