THOMAS MOSS, LUDGATE STREET, LONDON. AN EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE REGENCY MANTEL TIMEPIECE.
CIRCA 1820.

A particularly attractive and small sized English Regency mantel clock. The gilded drum shaped case standing on a white marble plinth with gilded engine turned feet. The front of the marble with a well cast gilded floral swag with gilded ribbon at the end.

The 4.25" dial with fine engine turned centre and Arabic numerals with delicately pierced heart shaped hands of blued steel.

The eight day fusee movement signed on the backplate for the maker with pendulum holdfast and with mid position adjusting screw to the nicely shaped bob. As is common with these clocks the backplate completely covers the rear of the drum case thus excluding dust from entering the movement.

Height: 7.25" (8.5 cms.)

Thomas Moss was a well known maker who is noted as working between 1786 - 1827. We have had a number of clocks of his through our hands including a very attractive musical clock signed "Thomas Moss nephew and real successor to Thomas Moss Senior", his uncle had died in 1784.
