27005C.W Access to the substantial five pillar movement is gained by a large flap at the back of the case. It is located by two brass straps fixed to the top of the case. A verge escapement is employed and fast/slow regulation is provided by a pivoted lever from one end of which the pendulum is suspended with the other engaging on a cam to which the hand is fixed at the top of the 9" engraved and silvered brass dial. This is a fine feature of the clock. It has Roman hour and Arabic minute numerals and an aperture through which the mock bob may be seen. There is a graduated semi-circular dial above 12 oclock for the fast/slow regulation and Wilsons bold flowing signature occupies the lower half of the dial. There is a brass front opening bezel surrounding the dial and decorative carving outside this. The body of the case, which is both concave and convex, has incised carving and beyond this is bold floral embellishment. At the top of the clock is an urn with flowers and below it, further decoration. Overall length : 37" ( 94 cms.) |
