A WORLD TIME CLOCK BY BOURDIN, PARIS. CIRCA 1865.

This attractively conceived and executed clock is similar in overall form, but much less complex than the fine world time clock we illustrated in ' Continental & American Skeleton Clocks ' pages 132, 133. The case, of Turkish onyx, is basically rectangular with a flat top and well formed moulds to the plinth and cornice. The front corners are concave.

There is a finely engraved gilt mask surrounded by a rectangular front opening door. Set within the centre of the mask is a circular enamelled dial inscribed ' Medaille de 1er Classe, Exposition Universalle, 1855. Bourdin, Paris.' To either side, set behind attractively shaped cut-outs are double dials i.e. four in all, which give the time in Madrid, Paris, London and New York.

The clock strikes the hours and halves on a bell and is provided with fast/slow regulation. It is signed on the backplate, Bourdin, Paris and numbered 5837.
